A Special Field Trip

Last week in Homeschool we had a field trip to Disney World where we learned how to be a Pirate.

Very Important Skill to have.

Our teacher was Jack Sparrow himself.
(Okay, not really Jack Sparrow but a poor imitation of him.)

Took an oath and received a "diploma" of sorts.



Oh, and we also learned how to Drive.



Of course...we also celebrated a birthday!! :)

More about Jesus' Time...on to the Egyptians!


A lesson on...Romans and Egyptians, their power and religions and the fall of Egypt after it adopted Christianity.

Backgammon -and ancient Egyptian game!



Awesome Mediterranean Food-Hummus, chick peas or garbanzo beans, pita bread, falafel, grapes... Yum! Everyone tried and liked everything, which is sort of amazing in this age of picky eaters and fast food, eh?

Then We made paper Mosaics!

Spiritual Thought: Our lives are made up of many different experiences. Experiences that are happy, fun, exciting, and other experiences that are painful, sad, or difficult. All these experiences are like the little pieces of tile (or paper) in a mosaic...shaped in all different ways. But these different experiences, just like the mosaic tiles, are put together to shape who we are, and what our lives are like. And they create the masterpiece, the Mosaic, that is US! Aren't we beautiful?

Though these are earlier pictures...one day we went to the park and learned about Bernouli's principle:
The pressure of moving gas decreases as it's speed increases.
We made paper airplanes and flew kites!

What was it like in Jesus' Time?

We learned about what it was like during the time of Christ's birth. We learned about what kinds of clothes they wore, what kinds of houses they lived in, and little about the government. We also had a Spiritual message about the gift the Savior gave us, His Atonement...and how it is like an unlimited gift card, already paid for, simply for us to use.

The kids had fun dressing up a bit, coloring pictures while they listened to our "lesson" and also tasting great food that could have been eating around Jesus' time. We had flat bread, olive dip, some wraps and grapes. It was delicious!

The Space Shuttle Launch --November 14th, 2008



Here was our first big field trip.
We went to Cocoa beach to watch the last night launch of the space shuttle, Endeavor.





Playing in the waves while we waited...


Lots of picture taking...
and
We all yelled "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Blast off!" right at the perfect time
(thanks to a grandmother on the phone letting us know when to start counting down).

It was really exciting to see the sky light up!
